Fastest, Easiest, and Best Homemade Pizza
When your family has a weekly Family Movie Night and you give up eating at restaurants for 100 Days, you get really good at making pizza!
We love pizza because:
- It’s delicious.
- You can eat it with your hands.
- It’s delicious.
- It’s easy.
- Everybody likes it.
- It’s the natural combination with a movie night.
When we’re really lazy or in a time crunch, we just go with frozen pizza, but I really love making our own homemade pizzas. Making your own pizza allows you to control the ingredients and create custom flavor combinations!
The Easiest Homemade Pizza
The easiest way to make homemade pizzas is to not make your own crust. You can buy pre-baked crusts or refrigerated dough and just add toppings. We also enjoy making pizzas using tortillas or whole wheat pitas as the crust.
Pita pizzas are especially fun for kids since they each get to make their own. On our 21 Day Fix, we enjoyed grilled chicken and spinach pita pizzas! Yum and totally diet friendly.
Just spread sauce, toppings and cheese on one whole pita and bake at 425 for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted. To up the flavor anti, I brush on olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder before adding sauce and toppings.
If you’re wanting to actually make your own pizza crust, the easiest recipe I’ve ever used is also the fastest.
The Fastest Homemade Pizza
How long does it take to get pizza?
Frozen Pizza? You have to preheat the oven and bake it. All in, about 1/2 and hour.
Delivery or pick-up? About 1/2 an hour.
Home made, from scratch? About 1/2 an hour. WHAT?
Yes, you can go from flour and yeast to dinner time in 30 minutes. It’s insane, but it’s actually yummy.
You’ll need to buy the special Pizza Crust Yeast from Fleischmanns.
Preheat your oven to 425. Mix up:
1 3/4 – 2 1/4 cups of flour
1 envelope Fleischmann’s® Pizza Yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup of very warm water (120° to 130° F)
3 tablespoons oil
Shape the dough, add the toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes! It’s a life-saver of a recipe. Follow the actual recipe HERE.
Ever since I found this, I try to keep Pizza Yeast on hand (as well as some sauce and cheese) in case we need a quick pizza!
The BEST Homemade Pizza
I’ve been making homemade pizzas for years. I have tried a lot of different recipes for the crust and I have to say, this is the best!
I keep bread flour in the cupboard mostly for this recipe. The added gluten makes for a wonderfully chewy, crispy crust. It also means you can stretch and spin and toss the dough and feel fancy!
Impress your kids.
Feel like a boss.
Bobby’s recipe doesn’t include cooking directions (on the show, he grilled the pizza!) so I always bake it in a hot oven (425-450) until the crust is golden and the cheese starts to brown. That usually takes about 20 minutes.
This is recipe takes the most time and effort. It’s a good idea to start about 1 1/2 hours before movie time… I mean meal time.
Don’t over think it. I’ve used jarred marinara, Great Value Pizza Sauce, and Hunt’s Tomato sauce. If you want more flavor you can sprinkle on some dried basil or garlic powder.
And for margherita pizza we don’t even use a sauce. Just some sliced tomatoes, chopped garlic and a drizzle of olive oil.
We use turkey pepperoni since it’s less greasy. For hamburger, I brown up some ground beef and add a little basil, garlic, salt & pepper, and just a little tomato sauce. It needs the extra moisture to keep it from drying out and it helps it clump together a little so you don’t end up with dried crumbs of beef on top.
I just use bagged, pre-shredded mozzarella. This is supposed to be easy, not fancy!
Whether you go for the best, the fastest, or the easiest, you can’t go wrong with these recipes. E’rybody loves pizza! I want you to have recipes on hand that will make your family happy and keep you from stressing out.
