Flashback, Fall 2013: I was a stay-at-home mom with 3 little girls, 2 dogs, and a husband… and a mortgage, a student loan, and a massive amount of credit card debt. My husband’s salary had finally grown to cover our living expenses, but we were still drowning in debt with no paddle. Too many years had gone by with this… Read More
Making a Home is making a life
Homemaking sounds like an old-fashioned notion, doesn't it?
Maybe it's because of the way it was used to label a woman's profession, which then became seen as a term for a lack of profession. "No, she doesn't work, she's a homemaker." Of course, no one discredits the fact that homemaking is indeed work, but I think we all--both men and women--take for granted the importance of the task.
Homemaking, Making a Home, is indeed, the very essence of creating a life of comfort, productivity, and joy.
Everyone requires a home. The basic tasks of home--cleaning, organizing, decorating, finances, shopping, cooking, laundry--are handled is the core of the functionality and feel of a dwelling.
To put it bluntly:
Nothing works right when home doesn't work well.
If you want success in your career, your home-based business, your life, your family, you must make proactive, intentional choices about the way you manage these tasks.
My ultimate goal at Gathering Joy is to help homemakers achieve graceful goodness in the basic tasks so they can chase their dreams of growing a business or earning money from home and claim their joy of fellowship and fun with their family.
Let's get that laundry sorted, shall we?

I like it!” She sent me a copy. Amused at the whimsy of an adult woman sending… Read More

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and this confection, no matter what you call it, is always easy and always… Read More

I think I was born knowing the value of rest. My mom says that toddler me used to grab my blankie and put myself down for a nap. As I grew older, I was often accused of being lazy. My family still sighs when they see me sitting at the end of a meal while everyone else hustles to clear the… Read More
