A 10 minute dinner? What can you cook in 10 minutes? I’ve got an idea…. There’s a scene that repeats itself far too frequently in my house. I wander into the kitchen around 30-45 minutes before I get ready to eat and begin to think about what we’ll have for dinner. Then I remember that it’s Wednesday night and we… Read More
Making a Home is making a life
Homemaking sounds like an old-fashioned notion, doesn't it?
Maybe it's because of the way it was used to label a woman's profession, which then became seen as a term for a lack of profession. "No, she doesn't work, she's a homemaker." Of course, no one discredits the fact that homemaking is indeed work, but I think we all--both men and women--take for granted the importance of the task.
Homemaking, Making a Home, is indeed, the very essence of creating a life of comfort, productivity, and joy.
Everyone requires a home. The basic tasks of home--cleaning, organizing, decorating, finances, shopping, cooking, laundry--are handled is the core of the functionality and feel of a dwelling.
To put it bluntly:
Nothing works right when home doesn't work well.
If you want success in your career, your home-based business, your life, your family, you must make proactive, intentional choices about the way you manage these tasks.
My ultimate goal at Gathering Joy is to help homemakers achieve graceful goodness in the basic tasks so they can chase their dreams of growing a business or earning money from home and claim their joy of fellowship and fun with their family.
Let's get that laundry sorted, shall we?

When I was about 19 and in college, my mom and I were chatting on the phone one day when she told me about this amazing book she had been reading called Harry Potter. “It’s a children’s novel, but you would enjoy it. This easy, special weekend breakfast recipe goes by a lot of different names. Even in my own house, where it is frequently baked, we don’t know what to call it! Hootenanny? Oven Pancake? Dutch Baby?
